Santa Fe Area Contemporary Pueblo Revival Custom Home

A two-year build south of Tesuque Village — ICF construction, Western Windows sliders, and steel portals fabricated in our own shop.

A two-year Contemporary Pueblo Revival custom home south of Tesuque Village. Tent Rock, Inc. carried it from demolition of the original structure through ICF and frame construction, in-house steel portals, and hand-applied interior plaster.

Nestled just south of the historic Tesuque Village, this project showcases the very best of Custom Home Builders in Santa Fe, representing a seamless marriage of traditional Southwestern aesthetics and modern building science. As premier Santa Fe Custom Home Builders, Tent Rock, Inc. led this two-year journey from the initial demolition of a legacy structure to the final application of artisan interior plaster.

Architectural Vision & Project Scope

The project was defined by its "Contemporary Pueblo Revival" style—a design language that honors the soft, earthen forms of Northern New Mexico while introducing the clean lines and expansive glass of modern architecture. To prepare the site, the existing structure was demolished, and the landscape was expertly leveled to create a stable foundation for a home built to stand the test of time.

Performance-Driven Materials

To ensure maximum energy efficiency and structural longevity, Tent Rock, Inc. utilized Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF) combined with traditional lumber framing. This hybrid approach provides superior thermal mass, keeping the home cool during Santa Fe’s high-desert summers and warm throughout the winter months.

In-House Steel Fabrication

One of the most distinctive features of this Tesuque residence is the structural and ornamental steel work. At Tent Rock, Inc., we believe project management is an art form, and we maintain an in-house workshop of masons, woodworkers, and welders to ensure every detail meets our standards of distinction.

The massive steel portals that define the outdoor living spaces were fabricated entirely in-house by Tent Rock, Inc. co-owner Riley Muller. These custom features provide a sharp, modern contrast to the organic curves of the Contemporary Pueblo Revival silhouette, blurring the line between the built environment and the surrounding Santa Fe landscape.

A Collaborative Construction Process

Over the course of the 24-month build, Tent Rock, Inc. acted as both General Contractor and Project Manager, coordinating every phase of construction with precision and care. From the installation of large-scale Western Windows slider doors, which invite the golden New Mexico light into the living spaces, to the subtle texture of the interior plaster, the project was a true collaboration between our craftsmen and the client’s vision.

Building the Southwestern Dream

This Tesuque project stands as a testament to Tent Rock, Inc.’s dedication to regional heritage and sustainable innovation. For those seeking a custom home builder in Northern New Mexico who understands the nuances of local zoning, traditional materials, and modern performance, this Contemporary Pueblo Revival home offers a roadmap of excellence.

Whether we are restoring a historic adobe or building a cutting-edge contemporary home, our goal remains the same: to deliver an exceptional dwelling that will be cherished for generations.
